15. Miss You Much - Janet Jackson [1989]I WISH Janet Jackson was remembered as a bigger 80's popstar as literally EVERYONE else was. I wish she is as appreciated as Michael is. Her songs are so so so catchy and I can't help but dance or sing along whenever one of her songs plays! So I play music when I do morning prep at work, and I remember my coworker (swifty, early 2000's music lover) stopped in his tracks when he heard Rhythm Nation playing from my speaker. He was surprised to learn that Janet is Michael's sister! Whenever he finds the older music I play to be really awesome, I think about the meme of what could happen if you give a Victorian child Takis.

12. Tell Me - Sharon Jones, The Dap-Kings [2007?]There's no way this song was made in 2007, though everything I find states that it is! If it really is... crazy. I thought I found a 60's gem! I've been wanting to add "older" songs to this log since that's mainly what I listen to; so much for that! I believe I heard this song in a store on 4th of July (America, rahhhh), and I fell in love right away! Warm songs like this are PERFECT for summer days.
11. A Day In The Life Of A Tree - The Beach Boys [1971]Okay so this one is dangerous. Probably don’t listen if you're in a sad mood. The chorus is absolutely devastating. However, this is another awesome song off the Beach Boys’ album, “Surf’s Up”. It’s definitely my favorite album from the Beach Boys! If you have time, definitely take a listen!
Beach Boys are a lot like The Beatles in the sense that their biggest hits are the most mid songs they have. The Beach Boys have so many wonderful songs about life, death, and yearning... which are not related to surfing at all. I think this song is supposed to be depressing in a "we are trapped by old habits / when can I catch a break" way, but this song is very optimistic to me. Its inspiring in a “these are my values and morals, and I devote my life to relying upon them to make the world better for myself and others til death” type of way.

I recently got to see 10000 Maniacs live... it was basically like going to church. This song sounded especially beautiful! Frolicing music for realz.
So, "Inferno" [album] by Boards of Canada is so so so fire. SO many bangers, this being another great one! Naraka features another psychedelic chant blending perfectly into the melody of the song while being seamlessly supported by the percussion. Little less creepy than the former.
After looking up the song used in the credits of Backrooms (The World Becomes Flesh - Boards of Canada), I was astounded to learn that 1. Boards of Canada had released a new album, and 2. they found their spot in the Backrooms soundtrack! This song is eerie and so catchy. I am admittedly a total sucker for distorted samples of people just yapping turned into a melody. I am nosey, so I went and took a look at the sample that was making the song so catchy to me. It comes from a chant named "Door To My Heart" by Paramhansa Yogananda. Not entirely sure who this chant is meant for (like a God or an idea or something), but it's pretty! Religion has the potential to be cool, but the followers ruin it for everybody. Something so beautiful, so grounding, so artful is now turned into background noise for many. Take the guy yapping in the track for example... like seriously.
I just saw the Backrooms movie two days ago, but I've been listening to the soundtrack long before I saw it. This song caught my eye immediately! Firstly, it's unlike any of the others songs on the soundtrack, and it brought such a warm, familiar feeling to my chest. This song is perfectly liminal and nostalgic. This song's mood can be interpreted really any way, but I hear it as hopeful, reflective, and dreamy. I think if I had no-clipped and came across an area with this on the intercoms I'd be happy to lie down and let the time pass. I told my friend, "I HOPE I hear this song as I die!" "Still Life" [2024] is the og version of this song, but OHNYB sounds more haunting and distant which adds to that nostalgic and warm effect for me. *7/14/26* I am coming back to shower this song with love again. Everything about it is perfect. This is my second favorite song ever. The distorted train horn fading in at the end. oh my god. so childhood. I used to be afraid of train horns in the night, theyre just so haunting. Also i learned that this song is most likely "created" by the Backrooms, which adds to the beauty of this song to me. Like wow here's a place that was everything that ever was where people go to die but among the horrors it manifests it managed to conjure up this song full of soul and beauty. The Backrooms surprisingly mean a lot to me. Who know brainrot was so wonderful.
Immediately reminded me of "Haggstrom" - C148! I heart C418! Lately I've been listening to minecraft music through prep at work. Coworkers either love it or hate it. Luckily, it actually sparks a lot of discussion about the songs and out ~nostalgic~ memories on minecraft. Today my coworker was talking to me about Herobrine and how he tried nearly every tutorial out there to summon him. Who remembers the gold block and netherrack shrine?!

This song reminds me of the internet. I was just on reddit looking for a stupid card game I used to play at my aunts house when she used to babysit me. I remembered the game being SO COOL and that it had music like this. When the evil incels retreived my game for me, I was very disapointed to learn it definately was never as cool as I remembered it being. Its lame. It was like 'Hoyles Card Games' or something. I remember there was a pug avatar that reminded me of my dog. Also, the "fish" background was so fire. I remember that vividly.
This song is so CUNT. I haven't seen this movie, but this song is Tron. It perfectly captures the vibes of Tron: Legacy (2010) and the mood that Daft Punk created.I've been listening to SO many movie soundtracks lately!
